2012.6.26_we have the power

We visited NTU's two museums (NTU Zoology Museum, NTU Insectarium) and had a few lectures on Taiwan's geography, flora, and marine biodiversity. NTU Insectarium would be my favorite of today.

First of all, it was so amazing that we got the opportunity to open the drawers that are filled with specimens, which were stored in categories. I have never seen so many specimens at once in a single rooms, not to mention that after going back to the classroom 201, we got to take them out and observe them in a way that was closer than ever!

Later, we had a tour guide introducing another room that introduced some species that are currently under conservation.

There was this cicada that are said to be the biggest and the most colorful one, is now facing the problem of extinction. It only feeds on a specific tree which no more that 100 individuals are left. Despite of this frustration, the guide told us that we all have the power to make some difference. One butterfly conservation center was built because of his effort. It was so beautiful to see the possibilities and hopes that we could actually make a difference.
